Chrissie Gibson

Chrissie has worked for over 20 years on urban regeneration and planning projects in Greater Manchester and South Wales. She has worked to implement community projects in conjunction with local groups and carried out Local Plan consultation exercises.

Chrissie has considerable experience in learning and teaching in higher education. She has developed innovatory methods of teaching using problem-based learning and is a part time lecturer in Urban Regeneration at Manchester Metropolitan University.
In particular, she has developed expertise in student employability and has acted as consultant to the Higher Education Subject Centre for Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences and the Edward de Bono Foundation.

She was part of the Higher Education Funding Council: Urban Regeneration Making a Difference Project, a £3.2m programme addressing some of the key urban regeneration challenges facing the north of England. The project she was involved with focused on employability issues with 'hard to reach' groups.

Qualifications:
Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI)
Member of the Institute of Place Management (MIPM)
Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA)

International work includes:
Chrissie has carried out research into sustainable development policies in Lódz, Poland and urban regeneration in Bucharest, Romania. She has also been the invited speaker at conferences in USA and Ireland.
