Hiam has twelve years experience in community development, training and research in the Middle East and the UK. Her key skills are in team building, community development, advocacy, programme management and evaluation, gender, community-based credit and finance, training of trainers and participatory appraisal.
She has undertaken various consultancies and held several posts in project support, social mobilisation and disabilities for agencies and NGOs including UNICEF, HelpAge International and Save the Children (UK). She has worked as a Visiting Lecturer with the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, a consultant and training/resarch coordinator for the Sudanese Development Initiative and a Learnng Programme Coordinator with refugee children.
Qualifications:
Hiam has undertaken certificated training in Domestic Violence, Credit and Microcredit, Gender and Development and Training of Trainers. She has written articles on partnership working, volunteerism, gender and violence, women’s property rights, and gender and police force training.
Hiam regularly works as programme cordinator and lecturer for an Arabic language and Middle East history programme based in Egypt and is currently enroled on a PhD programme at Leeds University School of Modern Languages and Cultures. |
