We are experienced social and natural scientists, research managers and teachers of research methods, who undertake action research, policy research and bespoke research for a wide range of clients. We provide research products in a professional, accessible format that work for our clients and other research users.
Participatory Appraisal (PA – including Participatory Action Research) – working with local people in a shared research enterprise underpins much of what we do.
We retain close ties with several universities and research institutes in the UK, USA, Norway and East Africa. If we cannot meet your needs directly, we can refer you to qualified people who we trust to do a good job for you.
A research-based approach underpins almost all our work at Mind the Gap, whether it is training community researchers in participatory appraisal in Warrington, or finding solutions to natural resource conflicts, mining impacts and community development in Sierra Leone.
We normally employ mixed methods approaches that draw on a wide range of natural and social science methods and tools, ranging from field-based ecology to city-based community and institutional research. However, we almost always build our research on robust stakeholder analysis and agreed approaches for post-research actions.
